Anxiety is something we all feel from time to time, but it can become a problem when that worry, stress, or tension feels out of proportion to what’s actually going on.
It might show up as a racing mind, physical tension, or just often feeling overwhelmed. If these feelings stick around, feel too intense, or aren’t helped by your usual coping tools, it could be a sign you’re dealing with more than everyday stress.
Lots of people are talking more openly about anxiety in recent time, which is a great step forward. But it’s also important not to jump to self-diagnosis. Anxiety isn’t weakness; it’s comes from a safety mechanism, however sometimes one that needs understanding and calibration.
If you’re feeling anxious, try checking in with your body and emotions like you would with hunger—it’s about building a better relationship with your feelings. Look after your physical health, limit overwhelming media, and make space for things that enrich your life. And it’s okay to ask for help.
