It’s been said that fish will be the last to know what water is and similarly, with perception, we often don’t notice how we’re doing it because we do it so much. Although a complex phenomena, for practical purposes perception can be thought of as having four main parts: what we’re aware of, how we evaluate or judge it, whether we are more positive or negative in our response and the action that we end up taking.
Action: Take a little time each day to consider (1) where your attention is compared to where it could be (2) the ways you are judging your experience and other options that might be available (3) how you can choose to respond to the situation, even if challenging, that may help you progress and (4) the options available to you for action, or sometimes inaction.
