Triggers are the things that provoke stress. Your threshold is your ability to manage stress. Ideally we want our triggers to be low, and our threshold to be high. The space in the middle is your range: the greater that is the more resilient you are. Having a greater range provides some degree of immunisation from a variety of difficulties including maladaptive habits and internalised stress.
Action: Triggers can be lowered by changing the way you perceive them: associating greater feelings of ease and wellness with those things that aren’t in fact as provocative as they seem. Your threshold can be raised by practicing engaging mindfully with day to day challenges.
