When we’re used to something being a certain way—such as having a particular habit or set of beliefs—it can be easy to question whether it can be any other way. And even if change is possible, might it take a very long time considering how long it has been the old way? However, if we stop to reflect we can see that change happens all the time, and sometimes it happens precisely because of how longs things have been the old way.
Action: Take a moment to reflect on two things. Firstly, the many changes that you have seen happen this year, and throughout the course of your life. Changes in culture, changes in technology, changes in yourself. Secondly, reflect on some examples of things that change despite being a certain way for some time. Human rights came about primarily because of the lack of them in the past. Snow accumulating on a mountain top falls at a certain point precisely because it has been building up. In the same way, feel a readiness for your own patterns to transform into something that is a better fit for your life today.
