When it comes to taking ownership of personal development sometimes we may hear conflicting advice. One person may tell us to really take charge of creating change, but this can seem to backfire when we overdo it. Another person might recommend that we just allow change to happen, but sometimes after waiting for some time we’re not noticing any improvement.
Action: If we consider the role of a gardener tending to a garden our role becomes a little clearer. If the gardener takes too much ownership and overwaters plants and tries to pull them up from the ground rather than allowing them to grow we see that there can be problems. However the opposite would also be an issue: a gardener who never visits the garden to water and otherwise assist the plants. In most cases a middle path is best: planting seeds and creating a nurturing environment for positive change but ultimately letting the garden do the work.
