emotional diet

No matter what our level of health is we on some level get the importance of nutrition: certain food types will be better or worse for us on a given day. It’s easy to forget though that we don’t just have a physical diet, but an emotional one too.

Action: It’s helpful to clarify what core feelings you want more of in your life, and those you want less of. For those you want more of, each day find a source of emotional nutrition that gives you some of those feelings. It could be listening to music, watching a film clip, time with others, art, creativity, time in nature or anything else. Equally where possible minimise interaction with those things that don’t help. Taking smalls steps every day to have a balanced emotional diet adds up to feeling better overall.
