Sometime our worries insist that they are important for our safety. It certainly is true that we don’t want to ignore immediate and present danger, however how often are our worries about that? Instead worry is often aimed at things that don’t pose that great a risk and may be unlikely to happen anyway. Not only is such a state of focus unpleasant, but ironically it can leave us so caught up in thought that we may miss actual dangers that are present in our life.
Action: A calm general awareness allows us to enjoy things going well, and if there is difficulty, to spot it and allow us to respond appropriately. Rather than competing with worries, recognise that even if fear is our priority, that the safest use of your attention is being present.
